San Diego Padres Acquire Jose Pirela

Jose Pirela

Just a few hours ago the New York Yankees made a trade with the San Diego Padres. As MLB.com reporter Bryan Hoch reported the news.

This trade involved the Yankees sending infielder Jose Pirela to the Padres as they sent pitching prospect Ronald Herrera to New York.

Jose Pirela is only 25 with a career batting average of (.255) and OPS of (.642) to go with (8) career RBI’s and (1) home run in two seasons.

Pitching prospect Ronald Herrera is (23-24) in four minor league seasons. To go with a career ERA of (3.80), WHIP of (1.316)

The deal was mostly a roster clearing move for the New York Yankees. As this was noted in Bryan Hoch’s article.

Whether or not Jose Pirela will see immediate playing time for the Padres will be intriguing.

As will the possibility the addition of Padres prospect Ronald Herrera. Adding more potential depth to a team that is far from finished making moves.
