Struggling Grizzlies Take On Clippers
- Updated: November 9, 2015
The Memphis Grizzlies travel to Los Angeles to take on the Clippers tonight at the Staples Center. The Grizzlies have started the season off surprising slow including a blowout loss to the Golden State Warriors.
For the Clippers, they started the season on a 4 game winning streak but have lost their last two against the Houston Rockets and Warriors. Chris Paul may be available tonight after missing the last game with a strained right groin. If he is unavailable the club will most likely turn to Austin Rivers to try shut down Mike Conley.
Blake Griffin has historically struggled against Memphis. The length and strength of Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph have gave Griffin problems in the past but those days may be over. Griffin is averaging nearly 30 points per game in the young season.
Defensively Memphis has struggled. For a team that has prided themselves on defense, locking down their opponent in a ground and pound kind of style of play they haven’t done that so far this year. With Tony Allen and Matt Barnes their perimeter defense should be solid but that isn’t get the job either.
I know it’s early in the year, but maybe the Grizzlies are a year older and that year may mean their window has closed.
