Los Angeles Clippers vs. Phoenix Suns Recap 11/2
- Updated: November 2, 2015
After a slow start for the Los Angeles Clippers Monday night that included usually fast out of the gates shooting guard JJ Redick shooting a terrible 1-7 from the field in the first half, the Clippers were able to turn their performance around. A 20-2 run to end the second quarter gave the Clippers a 48-39 halftime lead over a Suns team that struggled to find their shot as well.
To begin the second half the mood shifted as the Suns went on a run of their own and clawed their way back into the game. Tyson Chandler was by far the player of the night for the Suns as the Dominguez High School product felt right at home Monday bringing in an impressive 17 rebounds and 14 points that helped will the team into the lead. The battle in the paint between DeAndre Jordan and Chandler was certainly the surprise of the game as the NBA’s current rebounding champion played well but was in a rare twist out rebounded by the Suns center as Jordan finished with 9 rebounds to go along with 7 points and 3 blocks.
The Suns big third quarter kept them in the game as they outscored the Clippers 33-27 in a quarter that seemed much more lopsided to the games viewers. Phoenix entered the fourth and final quarter of play with much more energy and confidence than a Clipper team that was holding a 75-72 lead at the time.
The Clippers however found the energy to push through late into the fourth quarter as much of the quarter was a battle between the Pacific division foes. Led by none other than early-early-season MVP candidate Blake Griffin who totaled 22 points and 10 rebounds on the night the Clippers were able to pull out a tight 102 -96 win.
The Los Angeles Clippers won a much tighter game Monday night than I think most Clipper fans would have cared to see but in this Pacific division that could be the toughest in basketball every win counts and we will definitely take it. The Clippers will be taking their 4-0 record to face the NBA champions and Pacific division rival Golden State Warriors Wednesday night. Golden State has been on a tear lately and Los Angeles will have to prove their worth against the toughest opponent they will face in this early season. Go Clips Go!
