Both Mbah a Moute and Hayes had non-guaranteed contracts, and while the pair play somewhat similar roles, Mbah a Moute’s extra length and defensive consistency might have won him the job over the former Toronto forward. Ben Bolch of the Los Angeles Times spoke to Doc Rivers about Mbah a Moute’s defense.
Reporter about Luc Mbah a Moute: “In addition to defense, he’s a guy that can guard multiple positions.” Doc Rivers: “Yeah, that’s defense.” — Ben Bolch (@latbbolch) October 25, 2015
While it’s not likely Mbah a Moute will get a ton of minutes, he could prove to be a capable bench player, with Doc Rivers still unsettled on the make up of his reserves heading into the season opener at Sacramento.
The Clippers are Mbah a Moute’s fourth NBA team in the past three years.
