Chargers Late Rally Comes Up Short, Fall 37-29

The San Diego Chargers scored 23 points in the 4th quarter but even that wasn’t enough as they fell to the Oakland Raiders 37-29.

The Chargers came into today’s games coming off of back to back tough losses and had an uninspiring start to the game. The Raiders on the other came off their bye week fresh and looking to get their record back to .500.

Oakland scored a touchdown on their first drive of the game. Latvius Murray punched in a 1 yard touchdown run to give the Raiders a 7-0 lead.

Sebastian Janikowski hit a 29-yard field goal later in the first quarter and the Chargers found themselves down 10-0 early.

With a minute left in the 1st the Chargers got on the board thanks to a Josh Lambo field goal and after the 1st quarter Oakland lead 10-3.

In the second quarter the Raiders made their big move. Derek Carr connected with Clive Walford for a 23 yard touchdown. Janikowski added a 32 yard and 31 field goal, and Carr connected with Amari Cooper for a 52 yard strike and the Raiders took control 30-3.

Lambo connected on another field goal as halftime ended that made the score 30-6 at the break.

Carr wasn’t done. In the 3rd quarter he connected with Michael Crabtree for a 25 yard touchdown that pushed the Raiders lead to 37-6.

In the 4th quarter the Chargers offense finally woke up. Rivers connected with Ladarius Green for a 31 yard touchdown. Rivers found Danny Woodhead for 2 touchdowns later in the quarter but it was too little too late and Chargers loss to the Raiders 37-29.

Rivers threw for 336 yards and 3 touchdowns to go with 2 interceptions. Corey Liuget, Jahleel Addae and Donald Butler lead the the way with 6 tackles.

Branden Oliver lead the way on the ground with 9 carries for 35 yards.

The Chargers will look to rebound when they travel to Baltimore to take on the Ravens on Sunday.
