Steve Ballmer; Balling In Real Life and On Twitter

Steve Ballmer

Well, this happened:

The tweet that rocked the Twitter world, well, not really but…

Previously the Clippers owner, and former Microsoft CEO, Steve Ballmer had two Twitter accounts, and as of Friday, he now has three. You can follow him at @Steven_Ballmer. Creative, we know.

The Huffington Post beat us to it by writing the following:

(It’s too bad Twitter didn’t save him some characters and make him @Ballmer, which someone created in 2008 and has never used. @Ballmer would be a pretty baller Twitter handle for a basketball team owner.)

With the announcement of Steve Ballmer’s 4% stake in Twitter, he has officially invested roughly $800 million. Is this a good investment for the Clippers enthusiast? Well here’s the breakdown from HuffPost:

“But the former Microsoft CEO’s judgment on consumer and social technology hasn’t always been rock-solid. While Ballmer increased Microsoft’s revenues and maintained its dominance over enterprise productivity software and operating systems, he badly misjudged the iPhone’s potential to reinvent mobile computing. Microsoft made an early investment in Facebook in 2007 that performed, but the companies have ended up parting ways in the years since, after integrating their search and social products. “

Although it is unclear just how much Steve Ballmer will influence the social network, what we do know is that Ballmer now owns more of the company than Jack Dorsey, Twitter’s permanent CEO.

The company has recently laid off more than 8 percent of their staff, following Twitter’s stock dropping below the price of their initial pubic offering in November 2013.

What do you think this means for the world of basketball on social media? Hopefully more creative and engaging content!!!! Let us know your thoughts! Will this give the Clippers an advantage in the social world?
