Le’Veon Bell Scores TD At Buzzer, Beats Chargers 24-20

San Diego Chargers

Le’Veon Bell scored a rushing touchdown on the final play of the game and the Pittsburgh Steelers beat the San Diego Chargers 24-20.

The Steelers without their franchise quarterback Ben Roethlisberger found themselves down by 3 with 2 minutes left. Michael Vick who could have easily thrown 3 or 4 interceptions was struggling. Things didn’t look good for them but they found a way to not only to get into the red zone but to score as time expired giving the Chargers no chance at any heroics.

The big story was the return of Antonio Gates. Gate was suspended for the first 4 games of this season returned just in time for Monday Night Football.

On the Chargers first scoring drive Philip Rivers found Gates in the back of the end zone for a 12 yard strike and the Chargers took a 7-0 lead. This touchdown was historic because it was Gates’ 100th career touchdown making him the second tight end in NFL history to reach the 100th mark. At the end of the first quarter the Chargers lead 7-0.

The Steelers who have gone through 3 kickers before finding Chris Boswell, gave him an opportunity in the second quarter. He put a 47 yarder through the uprights and the Steelers were on the board 7-3. That was the only scoring action in the quarter and the Bolts lead 7-3.

In the third quarter the Chargers began to move down the field when Antwon Blake intercepted Rivers and took it 70 yards to the end zone to give the Steelers a 10-7 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

Josh Lambo connected on a 40 yarder to tie the game at 10-10. Rivers and Gates connected for another touchdown this time for 11 yards and just like that the Steelers lead 17-10.

Just as the Chargers finished celebrating the score Vick found Markus Wheaton for a 72 yard bomb to tie the game at 17-17.

With both teams gassed the Chargers wee forced to settle for a field and Lambo put a 54 yarder through the uprights to give the Bolts a 20-17 lead.

The Steelers marched down the field and scored as time expired on a wildcat run by Bell and the Chargers loss 24-20.

The Chargers will travel to Green Bay to take on Aaron Rodgers and the Packers on Sunday afternoon.
