Josh Lambo’s FG, Lifts Chargers Over Browns 30-27

SAN DIEGO, Ca- San Diego Chargers rookie kicker Josh Lambo hit a 34 yard field goal as time expired and the Chargers beat the Cleveland Browns 30-27.

Lambo missed a 39-yard try that would have sent the game to overtime but Tramon Williams was flagged for offsides and gave the rookie another chance at the win.

The Browns got on the board first when Travis Coons hit a 36 yard field goal to put Cleveland ahead 3-0. Phillip Rivers connected with his favorite target Keenan Allen at the end of the first quarter for a 28 yard strike. This gave the Chargers a 7-3 lead after the first.

Josh McCown answered back with a touchdown of his own in the second quarter. He connected with Duke Johnson for a 34 yard touchdown and the Browns retook the lead at 10-7.

Lambo hit two field goals in the second quarter, a 46 and 45 yard strikes to give the Chargers a 13-10 lead. Coons answered with a 28 yarder as the half ended as the Chargers and Browns headed into the tunnel tied 13-13.

Coons hit a 33 yard field goal in the middle of the 3rd quarter to give Cleveland the advantag 16-13. Rivers answered with his second touchdown pass of the day, this time to Ladarius Green for  19 yard strike. This gave the Chargers a 20-16 lead heading into the 4th quarter.

Coons was at it again, this time a 40 yard field goal to bring the Browns within on. Rivers connected with John Phillips to give the Chargers a 27-19 lead with 7:26 left in the game.

McCown marched down the field and connected with Gary Barnidge for a 1-yard touchdown. The Browns went for 2 and converted and the score was tied a 27 all with 2:09 left in the game.

Lambo hit the game the winner to send the Charger fans happy as the Bolts won 30-27.

Rivers connected on 23/38 passes for 358 yards and 3 touchdowns and 0 interceptions. Danny Woodhead lead the way for the Chargers running game with 8 carries for 54 yards. Dontrelle Inman made 3 catches for 88 yards to round out the offensive statistics.

Manti Te’o lead the Chargers with 13 tackles. Eric Weddle added 11 with 4 assists and .5 sacks.

The Chargers will face off against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday Night Football next week!
