Angels Rally Back On To Stun Rangers 11-10

ARLINGTON, Tx- The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim scored 5 runs in the 9th inning to rally back and beat the Texas Rangers 11-10 on Saturday afternoon.
For the Halos Hector Santiago got the start. He pitched 4 innings allowing 5 hits and 5 runs, only 3 of the runs were earned. He struck out 5 and walked 1 as he picked up the no decision.
On the other hand, Colby Lewis got the start for the Rangers. He last 4 innings as well allowing 6 hits and 5 runs. He struck 4 as he picked up the no decision.
The offense got started in the 2nd inning for the Texas Rangers. Josh Hamilton hit a solo homerun to right field that was his 7th of the year and gave the Rangers a 1-0 lead.
In the 4th inning David Murphy hit a RBI single to center that put the Angels on the board. His hit brought in Mike Trout and tied the game at 1-1.
Carlos Perez that the 5th inning party started for the Angels. He hit a RBI double to center field that brought in David Freese. Johnny Giavotella followed with a RBI single, and he later scored on a wild pitch. Trout added to the rally with a sacrifice fly that brought in Erick Aybar and the Angels held a 5-1 advantage.
The Rangers answered back with 4 runs of their own in the bottom of the 5th. Rougned Odor hit a RBI single that brought in Elvis Andrus. Delino DeShields followed with a RBI single of his own. Adrian Beltre capped off the inning with a 2-run RBI that brought in Robinson Chirinos and DeShields and the game was tied at 5-5.
In the 6th inning Giavotella hit a RBI double that pushed the Angels back in front.
Texas added 3 runs in the 6th and 2 runs in the 7th and it looked as if the Angels’ season was over.
The Angels began to rally in the 9th however. Aybar and Kole Calhoun both hit solo shots. C.J. Cron followed with a RBI single that brought in Albert Pujols. Perez hit a RBI single that brought in Collin Cowgill and Giavotella crushed the hearts of Texas fans with a RBI single that brought in Kaleb Cowart to give the Halos a 11-10 advantage.
Joe Smith came on in the 9th inning and shut the club down to pick up his 5th save of the year and the Angels keep their playoff lives alive with the win.
The Angels will play their final game of the regular season tomorrow afternoon at 12:05 p.m.
