Los Angeles Clippers On the Bubble: Luc Mbah a Moute
- Updated: October 2, 2015
On September 25th the Los Angeles Clippers signed former UCLA Bruin Luc Mbah a Moute to a non-guaranteed contract. Mbah a Moute is thought to be competing for the Clippers’ fifteenth and final roster spot with other training camp signee Nikoloz Tskitishvili and Chuck Hayes. Let’s discuss what it is Mbah a Moute brings to the table for Los Angeles.
Entering his eighth NBA season Mbah a Moute is a true Small Forward. Having started 61 of the 67 games he played in last year for Philadelphia, Mbah a Moute has depth and experience at the Small Forward position that Los Angeles has been lacking in years past. Averaging 9.9 points and 4.9 rebounds per game last season, Mbah a Moute’s experience would be well used as a reserve for the Clippers.
Competing with Hayes and Tskitishvili will be a difficult task for the former Bruin as the two big men fill a much larger need for the Clippers by providing size and rebounding at a much higher clip. With only one of the three making the team, my bet is on Hayes to make the club but don’t be surprised if Doc Rivers and the Clippers fall in love with Mbah a Moute’s work ethic and experience at the position. Either way the Clippers have a great problem right now and that is to make a decision between three very good players for the final roster spot.
