Recap: Dodgers 3, Pirates 4 – Series Loss
- Updated: September 21, 2015
Coming into this series the Dodgers had been playing so well lately I almost expected them to sweep or at least win the series but unfortunately neither happened as the Pittsburgh Pirates handed the Dodgers their first series loss since being swept by the Houston Astros, who have gone the other way in the standings as the Dodgers, back on August 21-23.
Mike Bolsinger only made it through 4.1 innings before being pulled for Yimi Garcia who got the last two outs in the 5th and the Dodgers bullpen of Carlos Frias (welcome back!) Jim Johnson, JP Howell and Juan Nicasio kept the Pirates from scoring and at least giving the team a chance to win and even though we lost this game, that was a heck of an effort for them.
Outside of the game, there wasn’t much good, Alex Guerrero actually looked decent out there, making a good play at 3B and getting an RBI, Scott Van Slyke hit a home-run and Andre Ethier had an RBI, yay. Corey Seager got his first taste of hitting out of the 6th spot, he hit 3rd today and went 1-4 and struck out 1 time, hopefully he sticks, I like him there.
So, that series is over, the Giants won yesterday so the magic number stays at 7, the Mets are currently losing to the Yankees because of Matt Harvey‘s innings limit so that will help the Dodgers stay 1 game ahead of them for home field in the NLDS.
Next up is a four game series against the Arizona Diamondbacks, here are the probables:
Mon, Sep 21 – 7:10 PM | LHP Brett Anderson (9-8, 3.35 ERA) | RHP Jhoulys Chacin (0-1, 2.95 ERA) |
Tue, Sep 22 – 7:10 PM | LHP Alex Wood (11-10, 3.63 ERA) | LHP Robbie Ray (4-12, 3.72 ERA) |
Wed, Sep 23 – 7:00 PM | RHP Zack Greinke (18-3, 1.65 ERA) | RHP Chase Anderson (6-6, 4.52 ERA) |
Thu, Sep 24 – 12:10 PM | LHP Clayton Kershaw (14-7, 2.18 ERA) | LHP Patrick Corbin (6-4, 2.99 ERA) |
