A.J. Pollock Lifts D’Backs Over Padres 6-4

PHOENIX, Az- A.J. Pollock hit a 3-run home run in the 7th to lead the Arizona Diamondbacks come from behind victory over the San Diego Padres 6-4 on Tuesday night.

For the Padres Tyson Ross got the start. He pitched 6 innings allowing 4 hits and 1 run. He did strike out 9 and walk 3 as he was awarded the no decision for his efforts.

On the other side it was Jhoulys Chacin got the start. He pitched 5 innings allowing 4 hits and 2 runs. He struck out 3 and walked 2 and picked up a no decision as well.

Justin Upton got the Padres on the board in the 2nd inning. He hit his 26th home run of the year and gave the Padres a 1-0 lead.

The Padres were at it again in the 3rd inning. Yangervis Solarte grounded into a double play but brought Ross in to score and the Padres lead grew to 2-0.

The D’Backs answered back in the 6th inning. Welington Castillo hit a RBI single to left field that brought in Paul Goldschmidt. This cut the Padres lead to 2-1.

Travis Jankowski hit a RBI single to center that brought in Austin Hedges in the 7th inning. This pushed the Padres lead to 3-1.

The bottom half of the 7th was where the D’Backs did their damage. Nick Ahmed hit a RBI triple to center field that brought in Chris Owings.  Pollock followed with the go-ahead 3-run shot, his 17th of the year that brought in Ahmed and Socrates Brito. Brandon Drury added to the rally with an infield single that brought in Ender Inciarte and pushed the D’Backs lead to 6-3.

The Padres scored on a wild pitch in the 8th but they fell short of the comeback.

Brad Ziegler came on in the 9th and shut the club down for the D’Backs as the Padres fell 6-4.

The Padres and D’Backs will continue their series tonight at 6:40 p.m. PST
