Hollywood Blvd. News – San Diego Chargers Edition

With NFL season back in full force, it seems as though everyone is a passionate, excited, football fan again. Wait, according to a Facebook study, the fans of San Diego Chargers are the least excited in the league.

Yes, you read that correctly. Chargers fans are the most “miserable” in the NFL.

Now, I’m not saying that I agree, but here’s what the San Diego Tribune has to say:

“Here’s how the site collected its material from a recent seven-week span, took a stab at forming conclusions about all 32 fan bases, and made me think George Orwell indeed saw the future:

Specifically, we took a look at all Facebook posts and comments NFL fans made during the preseason (July 22 – September 7) about the teams they Like on Facebook, and classified them according to how positive or negative they were. This enabled us to compare and rank all 32 NFL teams by how positive the overall conversation among each fan base was during the preseason (Figure 1), as well as look more closely at trends over time for specific teams. As always, the insights presented here are based on depersonalized, aggregated data.”

The good news is that we aren’t alone! The five least optimistic fan bases are as follows Chargers, New England Patriots, Pittsburgh Steelers, Buffalo Bills and Washington.

You may be asking yourself who the five most optimistic fanbases are? Well, here you go: Kansas City Chiefs, Miami Dolphins, Minnesota Vikings, New Orleans Saints and Tennessee Titans.

What do you think? Are they right? Let me know!
