Jeff Saunders of the San Diego Union Tribune reported that Maurer was expected to begin throwing and return sooner back in August.
#Padres RHP Brandon Maurer said he’s seeing doc today for final clearance. Should start throwing soon after that.

With the season beginning to wind down in looks unlikely that Maurer will return this season. It might be a good thing to keep him out even if he is healthy. With the Padres out of the playoff race it doesn’t make much sense to rush him back into the lineup.
