RECAP:Dodgers Take The Finale From Padres, 5-1

The Los Angeles Dodgers are still to be the best in the West, as the team continued their winning ways, winning the weekend series against the Padres, in San Diego.

Brett Anderson,(W,9-8), picked another big win for the Dodgers, but he gave the team a real scare, when he left after 5-2/3 innings with a cramp in his left calf. The number three starter for the Dodgers, gave up the Padres only run, when Shortstop Jedd Gyorko took him deep, for his 13th homer for the season, to even the game at one apiece, to that point.

The Padres managed to keep the game close, until the top of the seventh inning, bad defense allowed three runs to cross the plate for the Dodgers, on a throwing error by Padres Reliever Nick Vincent. Andrew Cashner,(L,5-14), pitched six full innings but still suffered the loss.

Rookie Corey Seager, got his first career stolen base in this game. The Dodgers managed to only convert three of sixteen chances with runners in scoring position, while the Padres were zero for eight.

The Padres,(65-72), will remain at home to start a four game series with the Colorado Rockies and they will Ian Kennedy,(8-12, 3.88 ERA), to the mound, facing the Rockies Kyle Kendrick,(4-12, 6.29 ERA). The Dodgers,(78-58), will make a brief stop in Orange County, to face the Angels for three games, before going back on the road to take on the Arizona Diamondbacks in Arizona. The Dodgers will send Zack Greinke,(15-3, 1.59 ERA), to the hill, against Nick Tropeano,(1-2, 5.51 ERA), for the Angels.

Los Angeles has the biggest lead of any National league team. The team holds a 7.5 lead over the second place San Francisco Giants and they have a 13.5 lead, over the third place San Diego Padres, in the National League West.
