RECAP: Dodgers Beat The Giants, 2-1
- Updated: September 2, 2015
The Los Angeles Dodgers,(74-57), get another great pitching performance from Zack Greinke,(W,15-3), and only with two runs to claim this 2-1 victory, over the San Francisco Giants in game two of the three game series. Without a lot of offense, could be a problem for most teams in the Majors, but having Greinke, makes all the difference. Greinke at one stretch, had retired 14 Giants, in a row.
Adrian Gonzalez is still swinging a powerful bat, the hero in last night’s game, continued right were he left off at. His single that scored Jose Peraza, in the bottom of the third inning, was proven to be another game winner for the team. Rookie Of the Year candidate, Joc Pederson hit his 24th homer of the season, for an additional run.
The pesky Giants made the close, when they scored in the top of the eight inning but they fell short of victory, when the Dodgers bullpen shut the door on them. Luis Avilan,(H,15), got the final two outs in the eight inning, after Greinke departed the game. Kelly Jansen,(S,28), took over in the ninth inning, a shut down the Giants in order, for his 28th save of the season.
San Francisco,(69-63), have now lost four games in a row, with their second straight one-run defeat, and now find themselves 5.5 games behind the Dodgers in the National League West.
The final game of the series will take place tonight, at beautiful Dodgers Stadium, at 7:10 PST. Clayton Kershaw,(11-6, 2.24 ERA), will take on the Giants Mike Leake,(9-6, 3.53 ERA), after tonight’s night game hopefully, the lead will grow to 6.5 game advantage, for Los Angeles Dodgers.
