RECAP: Dodgers, Gonzalez, Sink Giants,5-4.

In the first game of one of a very crucial series of this season, the Los Angeles Dodgers get past the San Francisco Giants, 5-4, in 14 innings.

Anytime your team can get a game winning hit from one of your stars, is always exciting. Adrian Gonzalez, spoiled the San Francisco Giants hopes for gaining any ground, in the battle for the top spot in the National League West.

This game was filled with excitement and chances for both teams. The Dodgers found themselves in several jams, including with the bases loaded a few times but managed to get out of. Chase Utley, misplayed a grounder, off the bat of Marlon Byrd, for a two-run single in the top of the third inning, which allowed the Giants to take a two run lead, for the moment. In the bottom of the sixth inning, the amazing Adrian Gonzalez hit his 25th homer of the season, that scored Jimmy Rollins, to tie the score at 3 apiece. Andre Either hit a solo shot to right field, for his 13th of the season, as the Dodgers reclaimed the lead.

In the top of the eight inning, the Giants came right back to tie the game, on a double by Marlon Byrd, who has been on a tear since joining the Giants. The Dodgers ended the Giants night, on a bases loaded single, by Gonzales, on the first pitch he seen from Giants reliever Yusmeiro Petit, that sailed over the head of left fielder Nori Aoki‘s head, scoring A.J. Ellis, to give our Dodgers the win.

The Dodgers,(73-57), are now 12-6, at home in one-run games this season. Chris Hatcher,(W,2-5), picked up the win in relief and Mike Broadway,(L,0-1), took the loss, for the Giants,(69-62). After the five hours and twenty-nine minute marathon, the two teams will meet in game two of the series. Get ready for another classic pitching matchup tonight. Zack Greinke,(14-3, 1.61 ERA), will take on the ace of the Giants staff, Madison Bumgarner,(16-6, 2.97 ERA).

Los Angeles, did not let the hangover of the previous night’s no-hitter affect them at all, by jumping on the Giants early, and let’s also give the bullpen some credit, in the win. The team has now opened up a 4.5 lead over the Giants, who now have lost three straight games and still currently in second place in the National League West.
