Another loss for the Los Angeles Angels, as they are swept in Cleveland, for the first time since 2000. The Indians benefited on another big inning, (in the fifth), in which the Angels has no answer for. Abraham Almonte hit another grand slam for Cleveland, their second in consecutive games.

Jared Weaver,(L, 6-10), did not have a great start for the Angels, allowing eight runs on nine hits, only striking out two batters. This game was also played with a few questionable defensive plays as well. Both Kole Calhoun and Mike Trout had trouble picking up fly balls, which contributed to several Indians runs.

There were a positive side to this game, Grant Green hit a homer off Indians starter Josh Tomlin,(W,3-1), to prevent the shutout. Mike Trout went, 4-4 and drove in the Angels only other run, on a single to right, which scored Kaleb Cowart, in the top of the eight inning. Trout’s performance was great and he was a homer shy of hitting for the cycle.

Los Angeles,(65-65), have now lost 16 of the last 19 road games and the team now will travel to Oakland for three games with the Athletics, before returning home, to the Big “A”. Hector Santiago,(7-8, 3.13 ERA), will take the mound for the Angels, to try to snap the three game losing streak. Oakland will counter with Felix Doubront,(1-1, 3.70 ERA).

The Angels are currently in third place in the American League West, seven games behind the Houston Astros and the team is still three games behind the Texas Rangers, for the second Wild Card position.
