Recap: Dodgers 0, Astros 3 – Just One Game

Fun fact: The Dodgers were no-hit in 1981 and 1988 as well which are the last two years that they won a World Series proving that being no-hit is not indicative of being a poor team, just that the other pitcher was good. Yes it sucks but it’s okay, it’s one game, the Astros are good and Mike Fiers was excellent, mixing in his changeup and curveball with his fastball and keeping the Dodger hitters out of whack.

There was one silver lining however, the Dodgers bullpen, which had been getting a lot of flak lately for its inconsistency pitched 2 scoreless innings behind Chris Hatcher, who has retired his first 10 batters since coming off the disabled list and Yimi Garcia who has also been good since coming off the disabled list, only giving up one earned run in the 8 and 1/3 innings he’s pitched since coming off the DL as well.0

Brett Anderson, despite giving up 2 home-runs leading to all 3 Astros runs, still pitched well enough for the Dodgers offense to win on any other day, the other guy was just better.

This was the first no hitter against the Dodgers since 2012 when the Seattle Mariners needed 6 pitchers, including old “friend” Brandon League to no-hit the Dodgers.

Another fun fact. In 1981, the no-hitter pitched was by Nolan Ryan, giving him 5 total no-hitters at the time, breaking Sandy Koufax‘s record, bummer but interesting nonetheless so if you want to talk karma, remember that we won the world series that year and it was also the year I was born, so in a weird way, it may produce good Karma, yes? No? Moving on.

Next game should be fun, Zack Greinke (13-2 , 1.58 ERA) and a favorite for the NL Cy Young goes against Scott Kazmir (6-8 , 2.43 ERA) who is 1-3 with a 2.43 ERA since coming over to Houston, but wins mean nothing, he’s good and this should be a close one, game on!
