Recap: Angels 5, White Sox 3

The Los Angeles Angels (62-57) were able to win game two of their four-game set against the Chicago White Sox (55-62). This is their second straight win as the last time these two teams met Chicago swept Los Angeles in Chicago.

Angels starting pitcher Garrett Richards (12-9, 3.50 ERA, 7.0 IP, 4 K’s, 8 Hits, 2 ER) (W) was good on the mound last night. He faced White Sox’s starter John Danks (6-10, 4.61 ERA, 7.0 IP, 3 K’s, 5 Hits, 4 ER) (L) who lost.

This was apparent early on as Angels right fielder Kole Calhoun (1-4, R, HR, 2 RBI) hit a two-run home run to center field. Shane Victorino (1-3, R, RBI) scored as Los Angeles was up 2-0 at first in the bottom of the first inning.

Albert Pujols (1-4, R, HR, RBI) hit a solo shot home run to left field as he extended the Angels lead to 3-0 at the end of the first inning. In the top of the second inning White Sox’s shortstop Alexei Ramirez (0-3, RBI) grounded out to the shortstop as DH Avisail Garcia (2-4, R) scored as it was 3-1 Angels.

In the bottom of the fourth the Angels scored one more run. Second baseman Johnny Giavotella (1-3, R) scored via throwing error by White Sox’s third baseman Tyler Saladino.

As the Angels were in control they scored one more run. The White Sox scored two more runs as the final score was 5-3. Tonight at 7:10 PM PT the series will resume.

White Sox’s starting pitcher Jeff Samardzija (8-8, 4.78 ERA) will take on Jered Weaver (4-9, 4.60 ERA) in game three of this series.
