Recap: Dodgers 5, Reds 3

The Los Angeles Dodgers got back on track to earn their 40th home win on the season. They’re (40-20) at home and won against a team that they should hopefully beat the next two games of this four game series.

Cincinnati Reds starting pitcher John Lamb (0-0, 7.50 ERA, 6.0 IP, 7 K’s, 8 Hits, 5 ER) (L) struggled against the Dodgers lineup. Dodgers starting pitcher Alex Wood (8-7, 3.74 ERA, 6.1 IP, 3 K’s, 5 Hits, 3 ER) (W) pitched well though he gave up three runs the return of third baseman Justin Turner helped his start yesterday.

In the top of the first inning, the Cincinnati Reds were quick to score. Reds first baseman Joey Votto hit a RBI double to to center field as shortstop Eugenio Suarez scored. The Reds took an early 1-0 lead.

This was until the Dodgers were able to tie the game in the bottom of the first inning. Dodgers third baseman Justin Turner hit a sacrifice fly to left field as shortstop Jimmy Rollins scored to tie the game at 1-1.

No runs were scored until the bottom of the fifth inning. Justin Turner hit an RBI single to deep center field as Jimmy Rollins scored. The Dodgers took the lead as it was 2-1.

Adrian Gonzalez extended the lead. Gonzalez hit his (23rd) home run of the season. A three-run homer to right field as Enrique Hernandez and Justin Turner scored giving Los Angeles a 5-1 lead over Cincinnati.Joey Votto hit a two-run home run to center field as Suarez scored again.

This was the final run scored as it was 5-3 Dodgers. The series is now tied 1-1 as game three will start tonight at 6:10 PM PT. Reds starting pitcher David Holmberg (1-1, 3.06 ERA) will take on Brett Anderson (6-7, 3.43 ERA) in a crucial game three for the Dodgers.
