Last night at Chavez Ravine the Los Angeles Dodgers managed to win at a crucial point. After losing three straight to the Pittsburgh Pirates and game one to the Washington Nationals it was time for a win.
Dodgers ace and MLB leader in ERA Zack Greinke (12-2, 1.65 ERA, 6.0 IP, 6 K’s, 6 Hits, 0 ER) (W) won his twelve game of the season against Joe Ross (3-4, 3.44 ERA, 4.2 IP, 1 K, 6 Hits, 5 ER) (L)
This was a great match up as both pitchers were on point. Until the bottom of the fourth inning when the first runs were scored. Andre Ethier reached base via a triple that needed review but he was called safe at third base luckily.
Yasiel Puig would then go on to hit his ninth home run of the season. A two-run shot to left center field gave the Dodgers a 2-0 lead over the Nationals.
The scoring continued in the bottom of the fifth inning as well. Yasiel Puig earned his fifth RBI as he had bases clearing single to right field as the Dodgers went up 5-0.
This would also be the final score as the Nationals struggled offensively. Tonight at 7:10 PM PT this series will conclude.
The Nationals will have starter Jordan Zimmerman (8-7, 3.44 ERA) face reigning National League MVP in Clayton Kershaw (9-6, 2.51 ERA) as he looks to earn his tenth win on the season.
