Brewers Even Series, Beat Padres 4-1

The Milwaukee Brewers evened the series against the San Diego Padres Tuesday night holding on to the win 4-1. After scoring 13 runs last night the Padres were unable to produce runs tonight.

Andrew Cashner got the start for the Friars. He pitched 6 innings allowing 8 hits and 2 runs. He struck out 5 and walked 4 and was awarded his 11th loss of the season.

For the home team Jimmy Nelson got the start. He pitched 6.2 innings allowing 3 hits and 1 run, 0 earned. He was able to strike out 4 and walked 1 as he picked up his 9th win of the year.

The offense got started for the Brewers in the 3rd inning when Khris Davis hit a RBI single to center. His single brought in Ryan Braun and Adam Lind was out at home as he did not slide. This gave the Brewers a 1-0 lead.

In the top of the 4th Yonder Alonso hit a RBI sacrifice fly to left field that allowed Matt Kemp to score. This tied the game at 1-1.

It was the Brew Crew who was at it in the bottom half of the 4th. Elian Herrera hit a RBI single to left that brought in Shane Peterson. This pushed the Brewers lead back to 2-1.

Davis hit a sacrifice fly to left field in the 7th that brought Braun in and gave the Brewers a 3-1 advantage. Jean Segura followed with a RBI single to center field that brought in Lind and that was too much for the Padres to overcome.

Francisco Rodriguez came on in 9th inning and shut the Padres down. He picked up his 24th save of the year. The Padres and Brewers will continue their series tomorrow night at 5:10 p.m. PST.
