Conor Gillaspie Lifts Angels Over Indians 5-4

Conor Gillaspie hit his first home run in a Halo uniform and the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim beat the Cleveland Indians 5-4 on Monday night. This helped end a 6 game losing streak for the Halos.
For the Halos Garrett Richards got the start. He pitched 7.1 innings allowing 4 hits and 4 runs. He also struck out and outstanding 11 batters and walked 3 and he picked up his 11th win of the season.
On the other hand, CY Young winner Corey Kluber took the mound. He pitched 5.2 innings allowing 10 hits and 5 runs. He struck out 4 as his season woes continued and picked up his 12th loss. Kluber struggled to finish at bats tonight. 6 of the 10 hits he surrendered were when he was ahead in the count.
The offense started quickly in the 1st inning. Michael Brantley hit a single to right field that brought in Jose Ramirez. Yan Gomez followed with a 2-run blast to left center field. It was his 6th of the year and gave the Tribe a 3-0 lead.
It wasn’t until the 5th inning that Kole Calhoun hit a RBI single to right field that brought in C.J. Cron. Mike Trout followed with a RBI single that brought in David DeJesus and cut the lead to 3-2.
In the 6th inning Gillaspie hit the big 2-run shot that brought in Erick Aybar and the Angels took the lead 4-3. DeJesus reached on an infield single that pushed Johhny Givotella across and pushed the Halos lead to 5-3.
Carlos Santanta hit a RBI single to left that cut into the Halos lead 5-4.
Huston Street came on in the 9th ad shut the club down. He picked up his 26th save of the season.
The Angels and Indians will continue their series tomorrow night at 7:05 p.m. PST.
