Last night at Chavez Ravine the Freeway series started between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Los Angeles Angels. This inter-league match up was great as both teams have postseason aspirations.
Dodgers staring pitcher Zack Greinke (10-2, 1.41 ERA, 8.0 IP, 8 K’s, 2 ER) (W) won his tenth game of the season against Hector Santiago (7-5, 2.70 ERA, 5.0 IP, 3 K’s, 5 ER) (L) This game had great headlines as Howie Kendrick faced his former club as a Dodger.
In the bottom of the first inning Howie Kendrick hit a home run to center field as the Dodgers went up 1-0. No runs were scored until the fourth inning. Mike Trout tied the game with an RBI triple as Kole Calhoun scored for a 1-1 tie.
Notable Dodger Alex Guerrero who I’m glad wasn’t traded hit a go-ahead two-run home run in the bottom of the fourth inning. Los Angeles went up 3-1. In the fifth inning the Dodgers tacked on two more runs. Yasiel Puig hit an RBI single to left field as Scott Van Slyke scored for a 4-1 Dodgers lead.
Dodgers catcher Yasmani Grandal hit an RBI single as Puig scored giving the Dodgers commanding 5-1 lead. Mike Trout was responsible for the next two runs for the Angels. Trout hit an RBI single as Kole Calhoun scored the Angels second run. Mike Trout also hit a home run in the top of the ninth inning as the final score here 5-3.
Game two kicks off right now as the Angels and Dodgers are in an afternoon game as we speak.
