The San Diego Chargers Training Camp kicked off today, and there were many highlights to the opening conference. Including a mini press conference regarding Antonio Gates and his suspension.
NBC San Diego reports his responses to the questions as honest, mixed with humor. He said he’s been tested, ““100,000 times and that’s the only one that’s tested positive.”
“I was thinking April was over with so I was thinking it was more of an April Fool’s joke,” said Gates. “I’ve actually used it as a mechanism to teach my kids and other players around that nobody’s perfect and you can make mistakes.”
Eric Weddle was also a subject of conversation. He was quoted as saying the following:
“I’ve moved forward and moved on,” said Weddle. “It’s all about playing my best and leading the team. The emotional side is pretty much done with. When I’m out on the field it’s at ease for me. I’m ready to have the best year of my career.”
He was welcomed with a warm reception from the Chargers’ faithful!
