RECAP: Mets Beat Dodgers, 15-2. Duda Homers Twice
- Updated: July 25, 2015
The New York Mets score early and often, as they hand the Los Angeles Dodgers their worst loss of the season,15-2.
New York ended their losing streak, by scoring a season high in runs (15) and pounding out 21 hits, lead by Lucas Duda‘s bat. The Mets first baseman hit two homers, the only two for him in this ballgame. Kirk Nieuwenhuis and rookie Michael Conforto each had four hits in the game for New York.
The Mets really took advantage of Dodgers starter Zach Lee,(0-1),in his debut. Lee just simply had no answer for the Mets offense as he really struggled to get out of the opening inning, as New York scoring four runs, before the Dodgers came to bat. Lee’s line wasn’t very impressive, 4-2/3 innings pitched, giving up seven earned runs on eleven hits.
Los Angeles avoided the shutout by getting two homers off Mets starter Matt Harvey,(9-7). Jimmy Rollins hit his 11th of the season and now has a homer streak going, which is now at three games. Rookie Joc Pederson hit his 21st of the season,as he still leads all rookies in that category.
The lost for Los Angeles,(56-43), gives them only a two game lead in the National League West, over the San Francisco Giants. Zack Greinke,(9-2, 1.30 ERA), will return from his brief absence, for the team in the final game of the series. New York,(50-48), will send Jacob deGrom,(10-6, 2.18 ERA), to the mound, in one of the best pitching match-ups of the season. The final game of the season at Citi Field is scheduled for 10:10 PST.
