Matt Kemp Lifts Padres Over Giants 4-2

Matt Kemp hit his 10th home run of the season and the San Diego Padres beat the San Francisco Giants 4-2 Monday night. With tonight’s win the Padres have now won 5 in a row.
For the Padres Ian Kennedy got the start. He pitched 6 innings allowing 6 hits and 2 runs. He struck out 6 and walked 1 as he picked up his 5th win of the year.
On the other hand Tim Hudson got the start. He only lasted 4 innings allowing 5 hits and 3 runs. He stuck out 3 and walked 4 in his outing.
The offense got started in the 3rd inning when Gregor Blanco hit a solo shot to right. This was his 3rd home run of the season and the Giants took a 1-0 lead.
In the bottom half of the inning Matt Kemp answered with a 2-run shot to right field. This brought in Alexi Amarista and gave the Padres a 2-1 advantage.
Buster Posey hit a RBI single to left field that brought in Joe Panik in the 5th inning. Jedd Gyorko followed with a sacrifice fly in the bottom half of the inning that brought in Yangervis Solarte and the Padres lead 3-2 after 5.
In the 6th inning Solarte hit a RBI single up the middle that brought in Melvin Upton Jr. and the Padres took a 4-2 advantage.
Craig Kimbrel came on in the 9th inning to pick up the save for the Padres. He pushed his season total to 26 and the Padres held on to win 4-2.
The Padres and Giants will continue their series tomorrow night at 7:10 p.m. PST.
