RECAP: Angels Beat Up Red Sox, 11-1

In the first game of a doubleheader, the Los Angeles Angels had no problems in a very lopsided 11-1 win, over the Boston Red Sox.
This game was scheduled for last night, for Sunday Night Baseball on ESPN but due to heavy rain, we are playing two games today.

Angels starter Hector Santiago,(7-4), took the mound and after a rocky start, throwing 31 pitches in the first inning, settled down and managed to strikeout 10 Red Sox batters in just five innings of work.

The offensive attack struck early in this game for the Angels, the team put up an amazing seven runs, on home runs by Cole Calhoun, his 13th of the season and Albert Pujols, his 27 of the season, which ties him with teammate Mike Trout for the team lead, and a four-way tie for the Major League lead. David Freeze hit a three-run homer in the fourth inning, which was a 452ft bomb to deep center field.

The Angels were also outstanding in this games with runners in scoring position, going 5-7. Boston starter Eduardo Rodriguez,(5-3) on lasted 1.2/3, and he took the loss.

Boston,(42-50), will start Steven Wright,(3-2, 4.15 ERA), he will be opposed by Andrew Heaney,(3-0, 1.32 ERA), for the Angels, in game two of the doubleheader, which is scheduled for 7pm PST.
Los Angeles remains in first place, in the American League West, 1.5 games up on second place Houston Astros. The loss for Boston was their 50th of the season and they are now 8.5 games behind the New York Yankees, in the American League East.
