According to Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated the Los Angeles Lakers are among the teams interested in point Denver Nuggets point guard Ty Lawson. Mannix reports that the Nuggets may try to unload Lawson before training camp. Here is an excerpt from his article on SI.com.

“NBA sources told SI.com. Houston, Detroit and the L.A. Lakers are among the teams that have expressed interest in Lawson recently, and there remains a strong possibility the Nuggets could unload Lawson before training camp.”

Mannix reported early in the week that Lawson was arrested for his second DUI and it will be a challenge for the Denver to move the troubled guard.

Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports reported his thoughts on the Lawson situation earlier in the week.

Lawson is a very productive player on the court. Last season he averaged 15.2 points per game and 9.6 assists which ranked 3rd in the league in assists per game.

The Sacramento Kings were interested in Lawson before they signed Rajon Rondo. With the Nuggets drafting Emmanuel Mudiay they are not tied to keeping Lawson in the long term.

A team like the Lakers already has young guards in Jordan Clarkson and D’Angelo Russell but could always use more talent.
