According to  Corey Brock of MLB.com, San Diego Padres catcher Tim Federowicz is scheduled to catch a simulation game on Saturday.

Brock  also reported Federowicz’s progress on Monday afternoon.

Federowicz is working through rehab for knee surgery that he had earlier this year. With the injury this gave an opportunity for young prospect Austin Hedges to show his skills.

On June 20th of this year we wrote the following,

“U-T San Diego reports Federowicz saying the following about his progress:

“It still feels weird, but it’s all mental,” Federowicz said. “Nothing hurts as far as the knee goes. It’s just working back through that. To be able to do that, I feel like we’re ahead of schedule because we’ve been able to do that.”

“I’m hoping to get into a rehab start by the end of this month or early next month,” Federowicz said. It all depends on how the catching and running and everything progresses.”

Federowicz had spent his entire career with the Los Angeles Dodgers before being brought over in the blockbuster Matt Kemp trade.  We will continue to monitor his progress in the coming weeks.”

Some reports show that Federowicz could make his season debut around August 1st.

As more information surfaces of Federowicz and his progression we will keep you up to date.
