The reigning MVP and Cy Young Winner in the National League, made a strong case for a spot on the All Star team last night. Clayton Kershaw pitched a gem and he also ended a five-start win-less streak, as the Dodgers shutout the Phillies,5-0.

Kershaw looked amazing on the mound, striking out 13, allowing eight hits and no walks, as he went the distance on 123 pitches. After a brief conversation with Dodgers Manager Don Mattingly and Pitching Coach Rick Honeycutt, Kershaw convinced them both, to let him complete the game and give the bullpen a much-needed rest, for the night.

The Dodgers offense only needed two homers to win last nights game. A.J.Ellis hit his first homer of the season, a shot to left center field that scored Jimmy Rollins, in the bottom of the second inning. In the bottom of the third, Rollins hit his eleventh homer of the season, a three run shot and first career homer against his former team, both homers was off the Phillies starter Adam Morgan,(1-2), who took the loss.

The two teams will conclude the four game series tonight at 7:10 pm, PST. Los Angeles,(48-38), will send Zack Greinke,(7-2, 1.48 ERA) to the mound. Philadelphia,(29-58), will send Severino Gonzalez,(3-2, 8.28 ERA),to the mound, as they will try to even the four game series.
