The Angels had no problems in their Fourth Of July game with the Texas Rangers, as they shut them out 13-0. Angels starter Hector Santiago,(5-4), pitched well and received the much-needed run support led by the bat of C.J. Cron.
Santiago seemed to baffle the Rangers all night, he pitched seven full innings, only allowing three hits, striking out only three on one hundred and four pitches. Angels DH C.J. Cron had one of the best games of this season, he went 3 for 4, driving in six runs and was a triple shy of hitting for the cycle. The Angels looked unstoppable, scoring five runs in the first four innings and the six run explosion in the sixth, to put this game out of reach.
The Angels has always played exceptionally well on the Fourth Of July, in the last eight games, the team is now 7-1 and the run support is well over seven runs per game, on this holiday.
The series concludes today, Los Angeles,(43-38), will send C.J. Wilson,(6-6, 3.78 ERA), to the mound and Texas,(41-41) will send Colby Lewis,(8-3, 4.13 ERA), as the Rangers will try to avoid the series sweep. Los Angeles remains 4 games behind the first place Houston Astros, in the American League West and the Texas Rangers are in third place, 6.5 games back.
