Recap: Dodgers 6, D-Backs 10 – Streak Ends
- Updated: June 30, 2015
Coming into today’s game the Dodgers had won 7 straight games against the Diamondbacks, so of course we all let our guard down and just figured this would be an easy one and at first it was, until it wasn’t.
Mike Bolsinger pitched well until he was lifted after 4 inning, displaying flu-like symptoms so of course that’s when things fell apart. Joel Peralta, who until he came back from the disabled list gave up two in an inning’s worth of work.
Yimi Garcia gave up 2 and got a blown save…in the 6th inning, huh?
Juan Nicasio started off well, getting two quick outs but of course he couldn’t help himself, he next gave up two singles and then Mattingly lifted him for Adam Libatore because of course lefty matchups. Next the D-backs executed a double steal, putting men at 2nd and 3rd with two outs, two outs remember, just get this one guy, doesn’t matter how. so what happens? David Peralta, he of a .188 average versus left handers this season triples to deep center scoring both runs (credited to Nicasio, total suck) and tying it at 6, intentional walk, and then he gets the next guy but the damage is done.
Not that it mattered because next inning the bullpen, two of our best, gave up 4 runs to put the game away.
A lot of people are going to try to blame Mattingly but I don’t see it. If the bullpen doesn’t execute, how’s that his fault? ESPN even had an article today about the Dodger’s Steathily Good Bullpen so he’s been doing something right, right?
In good news, we got to see some dingers, Joc Pederson, Andre Ethier and Yasmani Grandal all hit home runs in the fourth, so that was fun. That put the game at 4-0 and I thought it was an easy game, but baseball is funny that way.
The Dodgers are now 4-4 on their 10 game road trip and all they need is 1 win to make it at least a .500 road trip, which while not great, is still good seeing as they came in 14-18 on the road, and hadn’t been scoring runs on the road.
Today we got to see one old friend, Allan Webster and tomorrow we get to see another, Rubby De La Rosa. Both went to the Red Sox in the Adrian Gonzalez trade, and the Dodgers have Carlos Frias on the mound, looking to get his record above .500 (5-5) and hopefully we get to see him run the bases again, that’s always fun.
