The Los Angeles Angels came out on top tonight after a dominant game against the Seattle Mariners. They won 4-2.
Garrett Richards kicked off the pitching for the Angels and he was three and done.
J.A. Happ and his Mariners switched and singled Daniel Robertson to left. With Kole Calhoun up next, he homered to right which pushed Robertson to score. The Angels were up 2-0 in the bottom of the first.
Fast forward to the top of the sixth and the Mariners were up to bat. Mike Zunino singled to center, and after Logan Morrison singled to right, Zunino ran to third. Seth Smith stepped up and helped Zunino to score, as well as move Morrison to second off of a wild pitch. Smith then reached an infield single and Morrison switched to third. The score sat at 2-1.
Johnny Giavotella singled to right in the bottom of the seventh and helped the one and only Mike Trout to score. This also helped Albert Pujols, who intentionally walked, move to third and David Freese to second. Carlos Perez stepped up to the plate and grounded out to shortstop causing Pujols to score and move Freese and Giavotella to transition. The Angels were up 4-1.
In the top of the eighth Mike Zunino homered to center with Richards pitching. This changed the Mariners score to be 4-2.
Robinson Cano left the game after being hit in the head by an errant Angels ball between innings. He appeared to have a very large lump on his forehead.
The two teams resume play tomorrow at 12:35 pm PST.
