Padres Take Advantage Of Errors, Beat D’Backs 4-2

The Arizona Diamondback committed 3 errors and the San Diego Padres used it to their advantage and beat the D’Backs 4-2 Friday night. After losing a high scoring affair last night it was good to see the Friars Faithful pull out a win.
For the Padres Tyson Ross got the start. He pitched 6 innings allowing 2 hits and 2 runs. He struck out 7 and walked 5 in his outing as he was able to pick up the win.
On the other side Robbie Ray got the start for the D’Backs. He pitched 6 innings allowing 5 hits and 3 runs with only 2 of them being earned. He struck out 5 and walked 0 but picked up the loss.
Yonder Alonso got the Padres started in the first inning with a RBI double that brought in Derek Norris. This was Alonso’s 8th double of the season and the Padres lead 1-0 after the first inning.
In the 3rd inning Paul Goldschmidt hit a RBI single to center that brought in Chris Owings and A.J. Pollock. This pushed Goldschmidt’s RBI total to 62 on the year and gave the D’Backs a 2-1 lead.
The Padres had an answer for Arizona in the bottom half of the inning. Cory Spangenberg was able to score on a Welington Castillo throwing error and this tied the game at 2 a piece.
Matt Kemp hit a sacrifice fly in the 5th inning that drove in Spangenberg. This was Kemp’s 39th RBI of the season and the Padres held a 3-2 lead.
In the 8th inning Justin Upton was able to reach on an infield single that brought in Kemp and the Padres held a 4-2 advantage.
Craig Kimbrel came on in the 9th inning for the Padres and shut the club down. He picked up his 19th save of the year.
The Diamondbacks and Padres will continue their series tomorrow night at 7:10 p.m. PST.
