With the NBA draft just around the corner there has been so much talk on who’s going where and what number they will get drafted. That’s usually the norm when draft day is closing in. Numerous trade talks going on behind the scenes and some trade talks that have seen the spotlight so far. If you’re an avid basketball fan you know this all too well. Who’s going where though and who are the consensus tops picks.
My top 5 prospects will probably shock some, but to others make sense.
- Karl- Anthony Towns: 6’11 Forward- 10.3 PPG, 6.7 RPG, 2.4 BPG, FG 55%
I was on the fence about who would go number one in Karl or Jahlil, but I have to go with Karl-Anthony Towns at the end of the day. He has a smooth stroke from mid-range for being 6’11, he is a freak athletically, and can finish at the rim nicely. He’s a natural shot blocker. It’s not something he has to force, but just comes easy to Towns. He’s also got a great ability to score in the post and displayed some nice post moves when he was down there.
During his season at Kentucky you would see how much of a defense talent he posed against other teams, and how much players hesitated when going in the paint. His game evolved throughout the season on the defensive and offensive side as well.
Cons: Lack of weight, which could cause him to be bullied inside by bigger and heavier NBA bigs. He also had a knack for getting into foul trouble, which can also be worked on. As years pass and he adjusts to the NBA you’ll see that it won’t be much of an issue, and you could compare him to an Anthony Davis type player in years to come.
