After two scoreless innings, and a very slow start the Los Angeles Angels were able to beat the Houston Astros 4-3.
Hector Santiago kicked off pitching for the Angels in the first inning, followed by Brett Oberholtzer for the Astros.
In the top of the third, with Santiago on the mound, Domingo Santana homered to right as soon as things started. The Astros were up 1-0.
The Angels didn’t respond until the bottom of the fifth. When, yes you guessed it!!, Mr. Albert Pujols himself homered to center after a pickoff attempt, foul, pickoff attempt, foul, ball, and foul. This helped Mike Trout to score putting the Angels in front 2-1.
Mr. HR Pujols took advantage again when he stepped up in the bottom of the seventh. He homered to center and added one to the 2-1 score.
After a strike looking, strike swinging Jason Castro singled to center in the top of the eighth, Marwin Gonzalez was able to score. This led way to Jose Altuve to ground-rule and double to left, which helped Castro score and move Carlos Correa to third. Tied game 3-3.
The Halos closed up the game in the bottom of the ninth when Daniel Robertson stepped up. He reached a fielder’s choice to first, which pushed Erick Aybar to score, moving Matt Joyce to third, Robertson to second on a Chris Carter throwing error.
The Angels won 4-3 and will be back in action against the Houston Astros at 7:05 pm PST.
