- Updated: June 20, 2015
The Oakland A’s scored 3 runs in the 6th inning and it was too much for the Los Angeles Angels to handle as the Halos fell 4-1 on Saturday afternoon. After a high scoring affair last night it was the pitching that played a bigger role in today’s game.
Jered Weaver got the start for the Halos. He pitched 5.2 innings allowing 4 runs and 6 hits. He struck out 4 and walked one as he picked up the loss.
On the other hand Jesse Hahn got the start for the A’s. He pitched 7.2 innings allowing 4 hits and 1 run. He did walk 4 but also struck out 4 as the he was able to pick up his third consecutive win.
The offense got started in the first inning when Stephen Vogt hit a RBI double to right field that brought in Marcus Semien.
It was 1-0 lead for the A’s all the way until the 6th inning when Erick Aybar hit a RBI single that brought Mike Trout in. This tied the game at 1-1.
The A’s offense came alive in the 6th inning. Josh Reddick hit a RBI double to left that brought in Ben Zobrist. Brett Lawrie followed with a RBI double to left field that brought in Reddick, and Josh Phegley added a double of his own to give the A’s a 4-1 advantage.
For the A’s Tyler Clippard pitched the final 1.1 innings allowing just 1 hit on their way to the victory. The Angels and A’s will continue their series tomorrow afternoon at 1:05 p.m. PST
