In the series finale to the inter-league series with the Los Angeles Dodgers and Texas Rangers the final result came to an end strangely. Most importantly though is the fact that the Dodgers avoided losing four straight games to the Texas Rangers.

Rangers starting pitcher Anthony Ranaudo (0-1, 6.48 ERA, 6.2 IP, 4 K’s, 5 H) pitched just as well as Dodgers starter Zack Greinke (5-2, 1.81 ERA, 7.0 IP, 8 K’s, 4 H) One hit being the difference in the first six innings of the game.

Since both lineups struggled and there being just nine total hits, the bottom of the ninth inning is where things got intriguing.

The Dodgers closer Kenley Jansen (2-0, 1.0 IP, 0.75 ERA, 2 K’s) (W)  relieved J.P. Howell (1.0 IP, 3 K’s) in the top of the ninth inning as he retired the Rangers. Texas Rangers Relief pitcher Keone Kela ( 0.2 IP, 1 ER, 2 BB) (L) lost this game as Dodgers pinch runner Enrique Hernandez advanced from third base to home for the 1-0 win.

More importantly is the upcoming game tonight. The San Francisco Giants (36-32) will be in Los Angeles for a three game set this weekend. Giants starter Chris Heston (6-5, 3.76 ERA) will face Mike Bolsinger (4-1, 2.25 ERA) in game one of this classic rivalry.
