Last night unfortunately the Los Angeles Dodgers lost their third straight game to the Texas Rangers. After having already lost the previous two in Texas, one would think the lineup would give the reigning National League MVP run support right?
Rangers starter Wandy Rodriguez (4-2, 3.20, 5.1 IP, 3 ER, 1 K) was on the mound against Clayton Kershaw (5-4, 6.0 IP, 3 ER, 10 K’s) as both pitchers allowed three runs a piece. The first earned run came via fielder’s choice as Prince Fielder scored to give Texas a 1-0 lead.
It wasn’t until the top of the third inning when Clayton Kershaw allowed a two-run homer to Joey Gallo as the Rangers extended their lead to 3-0. This unfortunately continued in the top of the fourth inning as Rangers second base man Rougned Odor hit an RBI single as Texas was up 4-0 by the end of the fourth.
Scott Van Slyke who had been injured provided the first runs for the Dodgers. His two-run homer left field brought the game within two runs as it was 4-2 Texas. Alex Guerrero pinch hit for Clayton Kershaw and added an RBI single to bring Los Angeles within one run at 4-3.
Though it got close this game managed to slip away from the Dodgers late. Relief pitcher Josh Ravin (1.0 IP, 1 ER) allowed a home run to Prince Fielder as the final score was 5-3. Losing three straight games isn’t good and hopefully tonight at 7:10 PM PT the Dodgers can avoid a four-game sweep.
Rangers starter Anthony Ranaudo (0-1, 32.40 ERA) will start against Zack Greinke (5-2, 1.95 ERA) as this inter-league series will conclude tonight in Dodger Stadium.
