Robbie Ray took a no-hitter into the sixth inning, and the Arizona Diamondbacks rode a big day from Paul Goldschmidt to defeat the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 7-3 on Monday night at Angel Stadium.

Ray was brilliant for the Diamondbacks, who are now 31-32 thanks to a recent hot streak. Ray threw 7 innings, allowing no runs and just two hits and two walks, striking out three Angels on the day.

His adversary, Jered Weaver, struggled for Los Angeles, giving up five runs (four earned) on eight hits (including two home runs) and two walks in seven innings, taking his seventh loss of the season on the hill for the Halos.

Arizona pushed across their first three runs of the game in the third inning on a three-run home run from Goldschmidt to dead center field.

In the fifth, the Diamondbacks got an unearned run after Kyle Kubitza missed catching a throw on a pickoff attempt, and Nick Ahmed scored from third base on the errant throw.

The Diamondbacks extended their lead to 5-0 in the sixth inning when Yasmany Tomas hit a home run to left center field off Weaver.

Finally, in the bottom of the eighth, and only after Ray was out of the game, the Angels finally got on the board. After a run scored on a wild pitch, Mike Trout doubled with two runners on to make the game 5-3, though that would be as close as the Angels would get.

In the top of the ninth inning, the Diamondbacks got two more runs when Fernando Salas allowed three hits, two walks, and a sacrifice fly in the inning, pushing the final to 7-3 with closer Addison Reed throwing the final 1.1 scoreless innings for Arizona.

The Angels (32-32) will face Arizona again tomorrow in Anaheim, before going to Phoenix on Wednesday and Thursday for two more games with the Diamondbacks at Chase Field.
