We like to start our day searching the web and reading articles about our beloved LA sports teams. For this edition, let’s dive into the news surrounding the San Diego Padres.
Below is an excerpt of the recap of their game against the Los Angeles Dodgers:
“The Padres sent Ian Kennedy (3-5), to the hill to face Zack Greinke (5-2), who suffered his second loss of the season. The scoring was minimal, the Padres got on the board first on a dribbler that came off the bat of Padres Right fielder Matt Kemp, up the third base line. When Greinke tried to field the ball, he made an error on the throw to first base, allowing Will Venable to score from third base. Los Angeles scored their lone-run on a Yasmani Grandalhomer off of Kennedy, on a 3-1 pitch that cleared the wall in right field, that was his 7th of the season. The Padres scored the games final run, on a Justin Upton homer, his 13th of the season in the bottom of the eight inning, to clinch the win for the Padres and ended the Dodgers 5 game winning streak. Padres closer Craig Kimbrel, came on in the top of the ninth inning, to earn his 16th save of the season.

Trea Turner has officially been traded to the Nationals:
“Nearly six months after the initial agreement, the Padres officially sent highly regarded shortstop prospect Trea Turner to the Nationals on Sunday, completing a three-team trade from December.
The move completes the Dec. 18 deal in which the Padres, who received outfielder Wil Myers and catcher Ryan Hanigan from the Rays, sent right-hander Joe Ross and a player to be named later to Washington. (Hanigan was flipped to the Red Sox the next day for third baseman Will Middlebrooks.)
At the time of the trade, Turner technically was a “player to be named later,” as the Padres’ first-round draft selection in 2014 couldn’t be officially dealt until a year after he signed his professional contract.”
