For your morning reading pleasure, let’s dive into the news surrounding the Anaheim Ducks.

Just how close are the Anaheim Ducks from making it all the way? Check out on of our Ducks writer’s thoughts on the matter in this excerpt:

“During the middle of the NHL season the Anaheim Ducks were battling to win a third consecutive Pacific Division title and a possible President’s Trophy.

When the NHL trade deadline approached, it appeared like the Ducks weren’t going to make any moves. As high noon approached, the news broke that the Ducks had made one move, then two moves, and more. The Ducks GM Bob Murray ended up sending away several players and acquiring what looked like a team that could go deep in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

The Ducks traded Ben Lovejoy back to Pittsburgh for Simon Despres. James Wisniewskiwas acquired for Rene Bourque, William Karlsson, and a second round pick. The Ducks also acquired Korbinian Holzer from the Toronto Maple Leafs for Eric Brewer. Lastly, the Ducks traded away Dany Heatley and a draft pick for Tomas Fleischmann.”

The Los Angeles Daily Times thinks the Anaheim Ducks need a LeBron James. Check out their thoughts on the matter here:

“Perhaps they should sign LeBron James.

Thanks to strategic planning and his own unprecedentedness, James will begin playing for a championship for a fifth consecutive year Thursday, when Cleveland plays Game 1 of the NBA Finals at Golden State.

James Jones is also technically present in his fifth consecutive Final, except he didn’t actually play for Miami in the 2011 Finals.

This is something Michael Jordan, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Magic Johnson and Larry Bird never did.”
