In a game that held both teams off the field for more than 2 and a half hours, the Rockies edged out our Los Angeles Dodgers 7-6.
The scoring started off in the bottom of the first, when Rockies shortstop, Troy Tulowitzki, singled into center which scored Charlie Blackmon as the Rockies to an early lead.
The Dodgers get even in the top of the second, when catcher Yasmani Grandal, singled to right that sent Howie Kendrick to third. Kendrick later scored on the throwing error from Rockies right fielder, Carlos Gonzalez.
In the top of the fifth inning, the Dodgers added another run, this time on a deep double to left, off the bat of Justin Turner, that scored Joc Pederson, who had walked earlier in the inning, now the Dodgers lead is only a single run. Colorado answered and took the lead on a three run homer by Troy Tulowitzki, the shot landed in the left field seats, Blackmon and D.J. LeMehieu crossed the plate with Toluwitzki, now the Rockies lead was 4-2.
We go to the top seventh inning, the Dodgers close the gap and take the lead back, on a single from Adrian Gonzalez, that scored Pederson and Justin Turner advanced to second on the play. Andre Ethier joined the scoring, with a single to right, that scored Turner and Gonzalez, now the Dodgers lead 5-4. Center fielder Joc Pederson continues to play above his rookie status and in the top of the eigth he hit his 17th homer of the season, this mark is tops for all rookie players in baseball. This shot gave the Dodgers a 6-4 lead until the bottom of the ninth.
The inning that will be remembered in this game is the bottom of the ninth, after the Dodgers managed to use several pitchers and the bases were loaded. Tulowitzki walked and Michael McKenry scored from third, with the bases still loaded, Charlie Blackmon scored on a passed ball that got away from catcher, Yasmani Grandal and D.J. LeMahieu moved to third. Nolan Arenado ended the night with a sacrifice fly that scored LeMahieu and the Colorado Rockies edged our Dodgers 7-6.
Dodger starter Mike Bolsinger went five innings for a no decision and his record remains at 3-1 for the season. The bullpen was a non factor in this game, Yimi Garcia and Adam Liberatore were responsible for the three runs in the ninth. The Dodgers will return home tonight for a final meeting with the St. Louis Cardinals. The loss did not hurt the Dodgers, they remain in first place with a 2 game lead over the San Francisco Giants.
