Melvin Upton made his season debut with the San Diego Padres Triple-A affiliate El Paso Chihuahuas last night. He went 2/5 with a stolen base. Jeff Sanders of U-T San Diego reported Upton’s stats for the game.

It is nice to see Upton gaining two hits as well as stealing base. He also played center field which is a good sign for the toe injury. He is currently on the disabled list due to the toe injury.
Felix Chavez of the El Paso Times reported the rehab plan for Upton.
Chihuahuas hitting coach Jody Davis said Melvin Upton Jr. will be with the team for 40-50 at-bats during his rehab assignment.

The Padres will ease Upton into being back to full strength as they don’t want to risk more aggravation to the toe. Melvin and Justin Upton will soon be able to play together again. They were teammates together in Atlanta as well.
