Breaking: Clayton Kershaw Wins Third Cy Young Award

Clayton Kershaw does it again. In unanimous fashion, Kershaw adds to his trophy case, with the 2014 NL Cy Young award. Kershaw also won in 2011 and again in 2013.
With the 2014 Cy Young, Kershaw is only the ninth pitcher to win three Cy Young awards. Kershaw joined baseball history alongside Sandy Koufax, Roger Clemens, Randy Johnson, Steve Carlton, Pedro Martinez, Greg Maddux, Jim Palmer, and Tom Seaver.
While everyone focussed on the negativity of Kershaw in the NLDS against the Cardinals, they quickly forgot about the amazing season Kershaw had. He missed more than the first month of baseball with a back injury, and still had a strong season going 21-3 with a 1.77 ERA, and lead his Dodgers to the playoffs with the NL West crown. Aside from the outstanding statistics, Kershaw also threw his first no-hitter this past season on June 18th, with 15 strikeouts and no walks, what would have been a perfect game despite Hanley Ramirez’s throwing error.
Johnny Cueto from the Cincinnati Reds finished second, while Cardinals’ Adam Wainwright finished in third.
Kershaw’s reign may not stop today, as Kershaw is also up for NL MVP, which will be revealed tomorrow at 6:00 p.m E.S.T on MLB Network.
