Last night the Los Angeles Dodgers were able to beat the defending champion San Francisco Giants to improve their record at Dodger Stadium to (9-1). Getting swept at AT&T park had to be a wake up call for those players and they were definitely ready to avenge losing three straight in the Bay Area.
Giants starter Tim Lincecum (1-2, 3.27 ERA, 4.0 IP, 4 ER) (L) faced Brett Anderson (1-1, 5.49 ERA, 4.2 IP, 3 ER). Anderson was unable to get the win as relief pitcher Carlos Frias (1.1 IP, 2 K’s) (W) saved the Giants from taking the lead.
This was after the Dodgers went up 4-0 in the bottom of the third inning when San Francisco made a charge in the top of the fifth inning. Though San Francisco came within one run with the score being 4-3 Los Angeles in the top of the fifth two key players hit home runs to solidify the win.
In the bottom of the sixth, Joc Pederson hit his third home run of the season. Pederson gave the dodgers a two-run cushion as it was 5-3. Late in the eighth inning, Justin Turner came through with a three-run home run to center field. He can seen in the picture above as the final here was 8-3.
Game two will start tonight at 7:10 PM PT. Reigning World Series MVP Madison Bumgarner (1-1, 4.63 ERA) will face the reigning National League MVP and Cy Young award winner in Clayton Kershaw (1-1, 4.07 ERA) in a marquee game between these N.L. West Rivals.
