Padres Call Up Cory Mazzoni

According to Bob Scanlan of the San Diego Padres the Padres have called up Cory Mazzoni and optioned Chris Rearick.

Bill Center of Padres.com reported some of Mazzoni dominance of late.

Cory Mazzoni, 25, had 1.08 ERA in six outings for Triple-A El Paso. Had 13 Ks in 8 1.3 innings. Allowed one run on three hits and a walk.

Mazzoni was part of the Alex Torres and has proven his worth so far in the Padres organization. He was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2011 MLB draft by the New York Mets.

This is the first time he has been called up the Show and we’ll see if he can make a name for himself in San Diego.
