3rd Quarter Dooms Lakers; Lose 114-105

The Los Angeles Lakers hosted the Brooklyn Nets in their first game after the All-Star game tonight and fell 114-105. With the loss the Lakers fall to 13-41 on the season. Head Coach Byron Scott told reporters that he was going to make some adjustments to the starting lineup and tonight he did just that.

Robert Sacre got the start over Jordan Hill. He scored 13 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. Jeremy Lin led the Lakers in scoring as he scored 18 off the bench. Ed Davis had a strong game as he scored 16 points and grabbed 14 rebounds off the bench as well.

Wayne Ellington struggled shooting the ball tonight. He had just 8 points and was 0-7 from behind the arch.

On the other side Brook Lopez had a strong game off the bench. He tallied 22 points and 14 rebounds. Joe Johnson lead all scorers with 23 points including 5 three pointers. Deron Williams recorded a double-double with 12 points and 15 assists.

The big factor tonight was the 3rd quarter for the Nets. They outscored the Lakers 40-20 which pushed them too far ahead for the Lakers to make a comeback.

The purple and gold also struggled tremendously from the three-point line. They connected on just 4 of 17 attempts.

Tonight’s loss pushes the Lakers streak to 7 in a row. They will try to regroup as they take on the new look Boston Celtics on Sunday night at the Staples Center.
